Ski and Sail FAQs - TERMS & CONDITIONS

1. What kind of experience is Jolly Good Times Sailing offering?

We offer authentic sailing adventures that depend on nature and weather. Because we sail in open ocean, fjords, and coastal areas, conditions can change quickly. Your safety always comes first. If weather or sea conditions make it necessary, we may change or reroute the itinerary without prior notice. These changes do not affect the price. Flexibility is part of the experience — Mother Nature has the final word.

2. What happens if the weather changes or something unexpected occurs?

JGTS reserves the right to change routes, destinations, or itineraries for safety reasons without prior notice.

If possible, we will inform you in advance of any changes. We’ll do our best to keep the itinerary close to the original plan. However, you must accept that delays or route changes can occur. You are responsible for any additional personal expenses (transport, food, accommodation) caused by unforeseen changes.

3. Is sailing with JGTS safe?

We always maintain high safety standards, but sailing is an outdoor activity that carries some risk. You participate at your own risk. JGTS cannot be held liable for injuries, accidents, or losses that occur during the trip. You must follow the crew’s instructions at all times to keep everyone safe.

4. Do I need travel or accident insurance?

Yes. It’s mandatory to have valid travel and accident insurance that includes emergency evacuation and transport home. If you need to cancel, you must rely on your own cancellation insurance. Without it, our standard cancellation policy applies.

5. What are my responsibilities as a guest?

You are expected to:

  • Be physically and mentally prepared for the trip.

  • Follow the instructions of the captain or trip leaders (JGTS or subcontractors).

  • Show respect toward all crew members and guests.

If your behavior causes safety issues or disturbs others, JGTS may exclude you from the trip without refund.

You are also responsible for any damages caused intentionally or by negligence to the vessel or its equipment.

Each trip requires a minimum of four (4) paying participants to be confirmed.

If this minimum is not met, Jolly Good Times Sailing (JGTS) reserves the right to cancel the trip. In that case, you will be offered either a full refund of all payments made or the option to reschedule to another available date.

6. How do I book and pay for a trip?

  • Booking: All bookings must be made electronically.

  • Deposit: NOK 10000 within 7 days confirms your spot.

  • Full payment: Due 90 days before departure.

  • Bookings made less than 90 days before departure: Full amount (including deposit) due within 4 days.

7. What is the cancellation policy?

  • More than 60 days before departure: Deposit is non-refundable.

  • 30–60 days before departure: 50% refund.

  • Less than 30 days before departure or no-show: No refund.

Trips require a minimum of 4 participants. If we cancel due to low numbers, you’ll get a full refund or be offered another date.

8. Can I change my booking?

Changes are possible if space allows and may include an administrative fee. Please contact us as early as possible to check availability.

9. What happens in case of force majeure?

If unforeseen circumstances (like extreme weather, natural disasters, or government restrictions) prevent the trip from taking place, we will try to reschedule your booking or issue a refund when possible.

10. What if I don’t pay on time?

Non-payment does not count as cancellation. You must cancel in writing. Otherwise, the full amount remains due.

11. What if I’m unhappy with something on board?

Tell us immediately while you are on board so we can fix it.

If the issue remains unresolved, you must send a written complaint within one month after the trip ends. Complaints are handled under Norwegian law.

12. Can photos of me be used on social media?

We often take photos and videos during trips to share on our social media. If you don’t want to appear in these materials, please tell the crew upon arrival so we can respect your privacy.

13. What happens if there’s an error on the website or price list?

We reserve the right to correct mistakes in prices or information at any time without compensation claims.

14. What law applies to my trip with JGTS?

All disputes are governed by Norwegian law and handled in Norwegian courts.

15. How does JGTS protect my personal data?

We only use your personal information to process your booking and deliver your trip safely. Your data is stored securely and shared only with those directly involved (e.g., port authorities, suppliers).

If your trip is outside the EEA, your data may be transferred to a country with different data protection standards.

You can request a copy of the data we hold or ask to be removed from our mailing list by writing to info@jollygoodtimessailing.com.
